Our Music Scholars Speak
Ashley Faatolia, Tenor, First Place 2001 GLB Competition
The Georgia Laster branch of NANM has long been a source of support, encouragement, and love for me as a young artist. In my early years of training, I received scholarship money which helped defray the costs of my college education. As a young professional, I have been mentored and guided by the members of this fine organization. Most importantly, I must stress the love and nurturing I continue to receive as a part of the Georgia Laster family; this is the greatest gift of all for a young musician!
"As a young African American artist, it is not only inspiring and reassuring to receive both financial and moral support from your community, it is also incredible to come across other talented young individuals with the same goals and aspirations. This is exactly the environment that NANM provides, and is why it had such an impact on my life as a young musician. It's imperative that programs like NANM exist so that musicians like myself are encouraged from an early age to follow our dreams."
